Our Privacy Promise to you!
Red Pepper Nutrition are updating our data protection policy to take into account the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which takes effect in the UK from May 25th 2018.
Your consent will be sought throughout your care. Specific written consent will be requested on commencement of treatment and this Privacy Promise will be made available to you for your information.
Personal information provided via e-mail, personal contact and team meetings (where appropriate) will be treated as confidential. With your consent, information about your therapy is shared with relevant team members. This information will only be shared to improve your care through a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to your rehabilitation and treatment.
Type of personal information we collect and use
Red Pepper Nutrition collects personal information for the specific purpose of effectively and efficiently treating our clients and to communicate those treatments with our clients and their multidisciplinary team/carers where appropriate. As health professionals, information may be communicated to us on a ‘need to know’ basis for our, or our clients’, personal safety. We will not collect personal information for marketing purposes or give personal information to third parties.
The personal data we use may include:
- Full name and personal details including contact information (e.g. home address, email address, phone number).
- Date of birth
- Medical history
- Current medical details
- Social history
- Current social details
- Dietary information
- Anthropometric data
- GP and Consultant details
- *Legal history
- *Current legal details
- *Criminal history
* This information will only be collected and stored if relevant and required.
Our social media and internet sites are open to the public. Always be careful not to disclose personal information on these sites. Comments written on Red Pepper Nutrition’s associated social media sites or websites will not be used by us for marketing purposes. Any contact with the dietitians from Red Pepper Nutrition must be initiated and maintained by the client, their support team** or family** (**where consent given).
How is personal information stored, communicated and destroyed?
Personal, anthropometric and dietary information is recorded in a client’s personal secure Oviva profile. This Oviva profile provides a secure method of communication through text messaging and video communications with the client or their carers where appropriate. A client’s Oviva profile can be ‘discharged’ or removed from the dietitian’s Oviva dashboard once treatment has ceased; however the clients details are stored by Oviva for a minimum of 8 years after client discharge as per our Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration requirements. After this time, they will be deleted permanently from the Oviva system.
Access to the Oviva dashboard by the dietitian is via a password-protected computer and an individual dietitian’s username and password.
Written records are transported in an appropriate bag and locked away in the dietitian’s car or office when not in use. Written records are securely stored for a minimum of 8 years after client discharge as per our Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration requirements. After this time, they will be disposed of appropriately.
Red Pepper Nutrition have implemented technologies and policies to ensure your privacy and security whilst communicating and storing information about yourself. Personal information will be limited on all internet communications and use of password-protected communication will be utilised as appropriate.
